Tarek S. Hassan, M.D. is Professor of Ophthalmology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and Fellowship Director at Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is the current President of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and is head of the Executive Committee of both the ASRS and the Foundation of the ASRS. He is the former Program Chairman of two recent ASRS Annual Meetings and AAO Retina Subspecialty Days. He has been principal or co-investigator in over 100 national clinical trials, authored and co-authored 200 peer-reviewed papers and 8 books/book chapters, given 550 national and international presentations, and been awarded the AAO Achievement Award, ASRS Senior Honor Award, and AAO Senior Achievement Award. He has trained 41 surgical vitreoretinal fellows.
